Fuglafjørður is a relatively big and fair village on Eysturoys east-coast.
The village spreads around the bottum of a bay and grows into the surrounding steep hills.
The city-center is located close to the harbour.
The harbour in Fuglafjørður is busy. There is fishing-industry, a slip, production of trawl and also oil-depots.
In the 1970-ties there was a terrible stink from the fishing-industry but that has been solved now.
Excavations show that people have lived in Fuglafjørður as early as in the midle of the 10th-century.
The church located in the city-center was built in 1984.
There is a hot spring down by the sea south of the village. The temperature is about 18 deg. celsius around the year.
The hot-spring is said to have a healing-effect.
First week-end in Juli there is a civic festival in Fuglafjørður. Saturday-night people meet at the hot spring where they will sing,
have speeches and have a nice time by the bonfire.
