Faroe Islands in a nutshell:

Position:   The Faroe Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean.
430 km. south of Island, 600 km. west of Norway and 300 km. north of Scotland. (62 00 N, 7 00 W).
Population: The Faroe Islands have a population of approx. 46.000 on 17 islands.
Capital: Tórshavn is the capital of The Faroe Islands. , approx. 15.000 inhabitants.
Government:   Since 1948 the Faroe Islands have had home rule within the Danish Kingdom and their own flag since 1940.
Language:

Faroe Islands have their own language called "Faeroese"… it is similar to Icelandic.

Area:   The Faroe Islands has a total area of 1.396 km² on 18 islands.
Size: The Faroe Islands is a small country. It measures 113 km from North to South and 75 km from West to East.
Total Coastline: Approx. 1,100 km. On the Faroe Islands You will never be further than 5 km from the sea.
Terrain: The Faroe Islands are dominated by mountains and grass-covered valleys.
Average height above Sea-level is 300 m.
Highest mountain: Slættaratindur (close to Funningur ): 882 m.
Time zone: The Faroe Islands is in the same time zone as London. (GMT/STC)
Economy: Mostly fishing-industry but also some agriculture (70.000 sheep) and some light industry.
Climate: Mild winters, cool summers, short showers are usual as is fog.
The weather on the Faroe Islands is known to be constantly changing during the day.
The best time for a vacation on the Faroe Islands is in the summer (May-July).
How to go there: You can go to the  Faroe Islands by plane or by ferry. From Copenhagen in Denmark the flight is 2 hours. By sea it takes about 1½ days from Denmark.
